Didn't want to go the diamond route for my anniversary ring. I've lost two bands at this point and I rarely wear my ring due to work. I would say this ring (in appearance) is the equivalent of a 1 to 1.25 CT diamond. My ring size is a 3 3/4, and I like a lot of coverage. This ring is a lab created white sapphire. The difference in refractive index is 1.77 for a white sapphire vs 2.44 for a diamond. This means it doesn't push out a sparkle like a diamond, but white sapphires are by no means dull. I feel you can better appreciation the cut in a sapphire vs a diamond. It's a more understated elegance in my opinion--less in your face. It has a subtle confidence to it. This ring is also quite heavy, which I equate with quality vs a light, flimsy cz. So far, I've received nothing but compliments and oohing and awing. No one has questioned whether or not it's 'really a diamond' though I'm proud to say it's a white sapphire! The setting is SPECTACULAR. I feel this really contributes to the presumed value of this ring. Nothing screams cheap like a chunky setting. Finally the height of this setting with the hidden halo gives an excellent optical illusion. It makes it look bigger than it is; I took a photo--that's a little odd--to help show the size when it's the same level as the finger. My fingers are quite short. My ring finger, from base knuckle (one on the hand) to finger tip is just under 8cm. If you're trying to figure out how big this will look on your finger, there are websites like diamdb that allow you to view different carats and shapes on an adjustable finger. I would recommend comparing this to a 1.25 CT oval diamond to get an accurate/equivalent size. While, the weight in the description is 3+ CT, this isn't a diamond; sapphires are more dense (heavier). I made my choice based on a ring I could afford if I were buying a diamond, so I don't feel bad about the size. The center stone alone would start around $1,700 at a mediocre cut and color. With this beautiful cut, color and side stones, I would say this ring would be in the 12-15k range for an equivalent diamond ring. Hope this was helpful!
